The MSL, short for master subsidy lock, code is one of the two six-digit codes implemented in CDMA phones. The other code is the SPC, or one-time service programming code, and is only used to activate the phone onto a wireless service. The MSL code is used whenever the phone must be reprogrammed so, if you want to flash a custom ROM on your phone, you need to know its MSL code. Fortunately, the MSL code is created using the phone’s Electronic Serial Number. Of course, each carrier uses a different algorithm. A Sprint phone MSL code is different from an AT&T; phone MSL code.
