If you are using AnyDVD HD and Virtual CloneDrive make sure you are using the latest versions. Right now those would be found here: AnyDVD HD 6.4.8.6 beta: Virtual CloneDrive 5.4.1.3 beta: In the event you are using the OEM version of PowerDVD from Dell that is called DX or Max or whatever they call the OEM version then that is the problem. I believe it is a bit more stringent in terms of what is allowed but I also don't know that much about the OEM versions. I received a couple OEM copies of PowerDVD but I've always just binned them and purchased retail versions.
There are other people who read the forums that have more experience with the OEM & Dell OEM versions. I'm sure someone will be able to give you more information. I'm using the OEM version of PowerDVD 7.3 that is provided with LG Blu-ray drives. Builds confirmed as working: 3730c.0 (readme dated 5/16/2007) 4102b.0 (no readme update) The most recent build (4617.0 - readme dated ) gives 'A disc with an unsupported format in drive.' When attempting to play a VCD mounted BD.
This build works fine with DVD (physical and VCD mounted) as well as physical BD media. VDC versions I've tried: 5.4.0.6 5.4.1.1 (current prod) 5.4.1.3 (current beta) OS versions I've tried (both with current patches): Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit Intel Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit Intel. The last two builds were obtained via links in the pop-up that notifies of available updates when starting PowerDVD (also available via the upgrade button in the About window). Here's a link to the patch page: I've gone through my entire BD collection and have narrowed this down quite a bit.
The problem isn't as bad as I thought. What I've discovered is that the problem only occurs when mounting BD images via.dvd files produced by versions of AnyDVDHD older than 6.4.8.5. I've gotten in the habit of mounting via the.dvd files and didn't try mounting the.iso files directly until tonight.
